This is the second update from my original blogpost: Follow our Joomla Web site Development.
I spent about two hours fleshing out what I call the "framework" of the Joomla Web site inputing all the Sections and Categories predetermined by SAF staff. First I dove into Joomla's "Section Manager" to create the top level category, then created the second level categories that go under the Sections in Joomla's "Category Manager."
It's a bit confusing at first but as you begin to use it, I do find there is a simple logic to system. In this case, you may be adjusting business processes, strategic objectives, what have you to the "system" but we found it to be a worthwhile exercise since the system is quite simple. Shouldn't these processes and objectives be simple in the first place?
The next step was to take these Sections and Categories and post them in the main menu for visitors to access them. Within the Joomla system, I dived into the very confusing Menu Manager system to start creating landing pages. You've got to read the book on this one since it took me a while to figure it out and I will only serve to confuse the process if I were to summarize here. But you'll see from my screenshots of the backend screen to create menus and the result on the front end.
