It's been my job to keep tabs on all things technology for the past several years as CIO for the Society of American Florists and to contribute new ideas in round table discussion at SAF's Technology Committee meetings. During this time, I've accumlated a list of Web sites I review via RSS and like to share a trend I've noticed. Consumers and uber geeks represent opposite ends of a spectrum that drive technology. Within the spectrum falls everything else such as all size of businesses, Non-profit org, government IT, etc.

And as I've noticed through the years, particular tech that may start on one end of this spectrum eventually migrates to the other end. One example technology is virtualization. Articles first started appearing on sites such as digg, slashdot and now are found on general tech sites such as CNET.

Below is a quick list I shared this morning with SAF's CEO during our executive briefing. Let me know your thoughts on this idea!

With so much exposure in the field of technology, it is little wonder that he knows so much about and contributes his ideas in the various round table discussions. That was a very interesting observation about the consumers and uber geeks being at the opposite ends of a spectrum that and how everything else comes with that spectrum!! These are really helpful to make useful studies on the different characteristics and trends of users of the web where are lot of statistics can be arrived at!!
